Dialysis Technician

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor Dialysis Equipment

  Operate and monitor dialysis machines, ensuring the equipment functions correctly throughout treatment, adjusting settings based on patient needs and reporting malfunctions promptly.

• Patient Assessment

  Conduct pre-treatment assessments, recording vital signs such as blood pressure and weight. Evaluate patients' physical and psychological conditions before, during, and after dialysis sessions.

• Administer Dialysis Treatment

  Prepare patients for dialysis by cannulating fistulas or grafts, initiating, monitoring the treatment, and delivering care in adherence to established protocols and standards.

• Sterilization and Maintenance

  Ensure all equipment is sterilized and maintained. Conduct routine maintenance checks, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with biomedical teams for repairs.

• Patient Education and Support

  Educate patients and families on dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications to promote optimal health and well-being.

• Documentation and Reporting

  Accurately document treatment details, patient progress, and any unusual occurrences. Ensure notes are comprehensive and shared with the healthcare team for continuity of care.

• Safety and Compliance

  Adhere to safety protocols and compliance regulations, including infection control practices, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff in the dialysis unit.

Typical Required Skills and Qualifications

• Certified Dialysis Technician with completion of an accredited training program

• 1-3 years of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting

• Expertise in operating dialysis equipment and understanding renal care procedures

• Strong communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with medical teams
