Child Care Assistant

Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure Child Safety

  Assist in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment by closely monitoring children during activities, adhering to safety protocols, and promptly addressing any unsafe situations or behaviors.

• Support Daily Activities

  Aid lead caregivers in planning and executing age-appropriate activities and educational programs to foster learning and development, ensuring active participation from all children.

• Promote Hygiene Practices

  Facilitate good hygiene by guiding children in regular handwashing, assisting with bathroom needs, and ensuring cleanliness of play and eating areas, following established sanitation guidelines.

• Meal Assistance

  Assist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and cleanup, ensuring dietary guidelines and individual allergies or restrictions are respected, while promoting healthy eating habits.

• Provide Emotional Support

  Offer emotional support and encouragement, building trusting relationships with children through active listening and responsiveness to individual needs, fostering a sense of security.

• Communicate with Parents

  Maintain open communication with parents and guardians by providing regular updates on child progress and behavior, addressing any concerns, and collaborating in achieving childcare goals.

• Assist in Record Keeping

  Support lead caregivers by helping track attendance, log daily activities, and maintain records of individual child progress and incidents to ensure compliance with regulations.

Typical Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience working with children aged 0-5 years in a daycare or similar setting.

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.

• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
